WSP GmbH in Aachen develops and builds plants for the thermal and chemical treatment of metal strip and other industrial products. With around 70 employees, we design and manufacture our plants close to Aachen’s city centre and then commission them at customer sites worldwide. Mechanical design, electrical engineering, automation, manufacturing, and assembly all happen in house — and every one of these departments relies on IT that simply works.
To look after our IT infrastructure we are looking for an IT systems administrator (m/f/d) — in German terms a Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration — who takes care of servers, network, workstations, and users, and develops our IT further on their own responsibility, both at our Aachen site and at our subsidiary VULKAN Edelstahlkomponenten GmbH in Eschweiler. The position is available full-time or part-time.
Your Responsibilities
- Operating, maintaining, and developing our server and network infrastructure (Windows and Linux)
- Administering Microsoft 365, user accounts, and permissions
- Setting up and supporting workstations, laptops, and mobile devices — from office desks to CAD workstations
- Being the go-to person for colleagues on all IT questions (1st and 2nd level support) in Aachen and Eschweiler
- Equipping and supporting our assembly and commissioning engineers, who work on sites around the world
- Backups, updates, anti-virus, and firewall — in short, day-to-day IT security
- Maintaining the documentation of our systems
- Planning and implementing new IT projects and coordinating with external service providers and suppliers
Your Profile
- Completed vocational training as a Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration or a comparable qualification
- Experience administering Windows clients and servers; Linux skills are a plus
- Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewalls)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 is desirable
- A structured, independent way of working, and a preference for solving things properly rather than patching them
- A friendly, patient manner with users
- Good German and English — fluent German is required for this position
- A driving licence (EU category B)
Recent graduates of the vocational training are very welcome to apply.
What Makes This Role Different
You will not be one of many in a large IT department — you will be the central person for our IT. You see the whole environment, from the network and servers down to the individual workstation, and you have a real say in how it develops.
At the same time, you work close to the people who rely on your work: design engineers, project managers, electrical planners, and fitters whose plants run in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Short paths and quick decisions are part of how we work.
What to Expect
- A permanent full-time or part-time position in an owner-managed, financially stable company
- Considerable creative freedom and short decision paths
- Varied work rather than a ticket conveyor belt
- Training and certifications by arrangement
- JobRad bike leasing and other mobility benefits
- A friendly team and regular company events
