Solar Power for Our Manufacturing in Aachen

WSP continues to invest in sustainable, future-proof production at its Aachen site. Our photovoltaic system, with an installed capacity of around 80 kWp, generates electricity directly where it is needed: in the manufacturing of our thermal process plants.

Around 100 MWh of Solar Electricity

Over the past year, the system generated nearly 100 MWh of solar electricity. A large share of this was consumed directly on site and used for our production.

Based on the average German electricity mix, this amount of power corresponds to a calculated avoidance of more than 30 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Sustainability in Our Own Manufacturing

Building furnaces and heat-treatment lines requires energy. By generating part of our electricity demand ourselves, we reduce our grid consumption and at the same time improve the carbon footprint of our production.

Quality, precision, and reliability naturally remain the standards by which we measure ourselves — unchanged.

Part of Our Long-Term Development

The photovoltaic system is another building block in the sustainable development of our headquarters in Aachen. It complements our in-house manufacturing and engineering, combining industrial value creation with a more efficient use of energy and resources.

Going forward, we will continue to review our processes and equipment for ways to improve them further — technically, in terms of energy, and ecologically.
