WSP Tinning Plants: High Productivity and Quality due to Innovative Concepts

In order to apply the tin layer, the strip is led into a tin pot. It is deflected upwardly by an immersion roller. The temperature inside the pot is 240°C - 290°C. The removable tin pot is located inside the tin pot furnace (in working position). Usually, the tin pot is electrically heated or gas heated. It is very important to minimize the inevitable rise in temperature of the tin bath in case of strip stoppage. The WSP concept guarantees this by various optimizations.

The temperatures of the tin bath are relatively low, but since the space in the tin pot is also limited, the resulting heat flows can be quite high and may lead to pot deformations (pictured on the right, pot before and after WSP optimization).

DUMA-BANDZINK Tinning Nozzle / Air Knife

A tinning nozzle (air knife) blows onto the vertically (in upward direction) running strip (on both sides) in order to achieve an exactly predetermined tinning result.

A uniform layer thickness on the entire strip widths can be defined by variable settings of pressure and positions. The nozzle angel can also be adjusted.

We cooperate successfully with DUMA-BANDZINK GmbH. DUMA-BANDZINK GmbH gained worldwide leadership. Theyhave many references in the field of galvanizing and tinning.

The demands are high: The tin layer must be cooled down properly before the strip passes the first deflection roll (in order to avoid any surface damage). The cooling power is decisive for the height of the plant. Nevertheless, the achievement of a high heat transfer is not predominantly: the tin layer is very sensitive on the first meters und must not be blown off. WSP has developed a special nozzle system for these critical areas which achieves high heat transfer and prevents that the sensitive tin layer is blown off. For this system, WSP can provide references in the field of tinning plants and galvanizing systems for the steel sector.
